10 Keys to Supply Chain Success -- Apparel Magazine
May 1, 2004
Automating the financial supply chain is one of the 10 keys this article covers:
"Call it the payment paper trail. The endless mire of letters of credit, orders, invoices and payments traditionally involves a lot of paper pushing and reconciling. Lengthy processing time involves many non-value-added tasks, and late payment can damage relations with supply chain partners. And of course there are significant document-handling costs. (The charges of preparing documents for one transaction can total in the hundreds of dollars.) But help is on the way: Automating the financial supply chain 'connects buyers, sellers and their service partners on a hosted, paperless platform with integrated financial services that results in visible processes, decreased costs, improved cash flows and streamlined operations,' says Kurt Cavano, CEO of TradeCard."

TradeCard's ability to accept the AS2 messaging standard is described:
"Buyers and suppliers can communicate with each other regardless of differences in messaging protocols, thanks to New York City-based TradeCard Inc.'s web platform. The service supports the latest messaging standards, such as AS2, as well as legacy communication methods including EDI VANs and FTP."

Seminars aim to help small firms improve their strategies -- South China Morning Post
April 28, 2004
"Today's overseas buyers want to cut down their inventory, which is very costly to hold," Mr. Chan (Director, Business Development, from TradeCard) explained.
"The size of their purchase orders has changed accordingly. Once, buyers might have ordered 100,000 pieces at a time, and given the supplier three months to produce them. Now, their orders are smaller, and they expect delivery in a month. They may ultimately order the same amount for a season, but do it in repeat orders. Competition is so keen that buyers can't lose sales of a hit product. Delivery of the right products at the right time and at the right location is the key."
This required suppliers to adjust their own operations, Mr. Chan said.

Growing Complexity Of Global Supply Chains Challenges Companies, Technology Vendors -- Global Logistics Magazine
April 2004
Supply chains are growing even tougher to manage, particularly with increased global sourcing, says this article. TradeCard is highlighted as a company that reduces the complexity:
"TradeCard...automates the financial supply chain. "We automate all documents in the procure-to-pay process and we wrap that with workflow and event management so that it can be managed by exception,' says Kurt Cavano, CEO. Through relationships with financial institutions, TradeCard also enables vendors to receive payment much earlier at lower discounts than traditional factoring services."
