TradeCard to present at APEC Symposium 2003 on "Paperless Trading" in Taipei
New York and Taipei, August 18, 2003. TradeCard, the only end-to-end financial supply chain
service provider for global trade partners, announced today that Carl Wegner, Vice President of
Business Development, TradeCard Taiwan, will be among a select group of industry leaders to present at
the APEC Symposium "Toward A Cross-Border Paperless Trading Environment: Actions for Trade
Facilitation" in Taipei. On Wednesday, September 3rd, at the Taipei International Convention
Center, Mr Wegner will share his experience on the benefits of paperless trading for the
transportation industry in the session titled "International Transportation" chaired by Mr.
Wong Wai Kheong, Singapore.
The APEC Symposium is organized by the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), the premier forum for
facilitating economic growth, cooperation, trade and investment in the Asia-Pacific region. With this
symposium, APEC is continuing its work outlined in the 1998 APEC Blueprint for Action on e-Commerce, which
commits member economies to a goal of achieving "Paperless Trading" where possible, by 2005 for
developed economies and 2010 for developing economies. The symposium in Taipei is meant to be a forum to
discuss and develop cooperative programs on the cross-border issues of paperless trading.
"It is a great honor to be invited by a major regional organization such as APEC to contribute
TradeCard's experience in supporting companies to implement paperless trading," said Carl Wegner,
Vice President of Business Development and General Manager, TradeCard Taiwan. "In this part of the
world, international trade is at the heart of each economy and both APEC and TradeCard are striving for
the same objectives: to make trading processes as efficient and effective as possible."
